 Well, I'd say that this is the business of the KDE folks, and certainly not
 something that could be "fixed" by simply adding some FreeBSD distribution
 patches. So - why not submit this as a suggestion to the appropriate folks
 / bug/request database at KDE?

 Greetings
 Nils

 My friend Gene Kim has KDE3 installed, and he confirms
 what I suspected: KDE does support IPv6, but does not
 support name resolution with IPv6. This is a bug. I
 know how you feel, Aaron--the KDE team seems to be
 fairly unreceptive to bug reports (in fact, I still
 have several simple patches waiting to be committed).
 However, I agree with Nils, FreeBSD shouldn't have to
 suffer with a bug in it's PR system for something that
 KDE should fix. It's seems like the FreeBSD team is a
 bit overworked as it is ;) Anyway, I think we should
 probably close this bug :-&

 -jj

 no I object. I dont regard this PR as someones "fault" or someones
 "responsibility which HAS to be dealt with ASAP"... its merely a reminder
 that smthg from the user perspective is not working.

 And as a reminder it should be kept open IMHO.
 It does not hurt me (or anybody else?) if we keep it.
 I won't stop using FreeBSD because of this hehe....

 greetings,
 aaron.

 Aaron,

 I know what you mean, and I hate to be argumentative. However, if we take this
 idea to its logical extreme, the FreeBSD bug database would contain a reference
 for every bug in every one of its ports. IMHO, this would not be very helpful.

 Of course, there's no need to argue with me, I don't even have committer's
 privledges! :)

 I have just tested this using FreeBSD 4.7-PRERELEASE and KDE packages fro=
 m=20
 rabarber.fruitsalad.org ver 3.0.3-2 and I can easily surf using konq to=20
 kame.net and other links and other sites that are IPv6 connected,=20

 I had only IPv6 on my fxp0 NIC and that was the only NIC in the machine, =
 I=20
 used a IPv6 DNS server specified in /etc/resolv.conf and everything worke=

 fine.
