>Description:
ftp://ftp.tex.ac.uk/tex-archive/dviware/dvips/README:

Note that dvips is no longer officially provided separately from the
teTeX releases. Users wishing to upgrade dvips have several options to
choose from.

Users of the commercial TeX systems (MicroPress, YandY, etc.) should
contact the vendor for updates.

The latest official versions of teTeX applications (including dvips)
can be found at:
ftp://dante.ctan.org/pub/tex/systems/unix/teTeX/current/distrib/sources/

The very latest "cutting edge" beta releases can be obtained from:
ftp://dante.ctan.org/pub/tex/systems/unix/teTeX-beta/

>How-To-Repeat:
# cd /usr/ports/print/dvips && make fetch
>Fix:
probably install the whole teTeX?

 I got the same problem,
and I think that's realy critical,
because I actualy can't use latex without dvips
(what else could I do with a dvi file....??)

BUT, I installed teTeX and now everythink went fine!!
as you wrote, dvips is in teTeX!!!

but, is this the best solution??

Not really true. dvips 5.76 can no longer be found on ftp.tex.ac.uk. They
refer you to the teTeX distribution.
This contains a dvips(k) 5.86. But the README in this distribution reveals
it stems from a version on
ftp://labrea.stanford.edu/pub/dvips. This directory contains the "old" 5.76
 dvips version.
So a quick fix would be the exchange of the mastersite from
 ftp://ftp.tex.ac.uk/tex-archive/dviware/dvips/
 to
 ftp://labrea.stanford.edu/pub/dvips/
. But for a more intensive work, it would be nice, if the "newer" version
from teTeX, if possible, can be made
 standalone installable :-).

State-Changed-Why:
dvips distfile is in master site local, so i believe
this is stale PR and can be safely closed
