>Description:

When you are asked if you want to look at the cards database, and say yes,
a large number of entries are not displayed; e.g., *NO* ATI cards are shown.

When you are given the choice to pick a driver, the ati driver is not shown.

I can't reliably use xf86cfg in graphics mode on my monitor (Samsung
17" TFT LCD 760V). This bug is a near blocker to setting up X; if I
didn't know how to set up an XF86Config file by hand (having used it
for years), I'd be up the proverbial creek.

>How-To-Repeat:

Run xf86cfg -textmode; try to configure an ATI card.

 1. Somebody please fix the bad Cc: line in the PR, please. There's a
missing comma between the 2 addresses.

 2. The graphical version of xf86cfg, which can run on my monitor after
some ugly magic[1], doesn't show ATI cards either. By extension, this
means it doesn't know about the ati module, and so can't show you what
 options are available. Ick.

 Missing note:
 [1] These steps:
 	1. XFree86 -configure
 	2. Paste the new "Device" section into my already working
XF86Config which only has 1 entry for 1280x1024 mode.

This indicates another serious problem with xf86cfg, in that LCD
monitors (like my Samsung 17" 760V) just can *not* do the default video
mode. What the solution is, I haven't a clue.

I have no clue how to deal with this. A bug report needs to filed with the
XF86 project, and I haven't had time to do it.

The responder said he didn't know how to submit bugs to X Free86.

To do so, you send them to XFree86@XFree86.org
 see: http://www.xfree86.org/4.2.0/README5.html

This should get reported, as it is a major show stopper for those
who don't have the ability to generate the file without the tool.

Flag this as a high-priority security bug, since people will not
upgrade to newer systems if they cannot make them useful.

State-Changed-Why:
4.2 has ATI cards up to r128 listed, 4.3 (due in under a month) will have
radeons listed. It doesn't matter a lot, since they're all Driver "ati".
