XFree86-4.1.0 installed from individual ports, not mega-package.

>Description:

DPMS works in vtys (console text screens).

KDE 2.2.x DPMS does not work. So, I checked with 'xdpyinfo' that DPMS was
enabled. Then checked with 'xset q' to see that DPMS was set up.

DPMS (Energy Star):
  Standby: 300 Suspend: 1200 Off: 3600
    DPMS is Enabled
      Monitor is On

>How-To-Repeat:

Try to force a DPMS state using, e.g., 'xset dpms force suspend'.

[alane ~]$ xset dpms force suspend
[alane ~]$ echo $?
0

Nothin' happens, though.

XF86Config available upon request. I didn't want to spam the list with it.

>Fix:

I don't even know how to diagnose this further. :(

How about now with 4.2.0, does your DPMS still not work?

I'm waiting until after the release to mess with 4.2, especially in
consideration that the 4.2 ports changes are AFAIK going to be backed
 out until then.

I didn't hear about this, where was it discussed?

Discussion has been going on on the XFree86-FreeBSD mailing
list. There is growing opposition to including a broken X port (which
breaks other things) on a release.
