>Description:
If kdelibs2 is built with threads support (which will happen if the
pth port happens to be installed), arts doesn't work properly. For
instance, ogg123 (audio/vorbistools) is not able to use the arts
daemon: ogg123 -d arts says "cannot open device arts".

>How-To-Repeat:
Install the kdelibs2 port on a machine which has pth installed
already

>Fix:
 Add the option
 --disable-threading
 to CONFIGURE_ARGS in kdelibs2/Makefile

State-Changed-When: Thu Sep 13 09:25:51 PDT 2001
State-Changed-Why:
Can you try building kdelibs2 again, this time either without
the pth port installed, or with the updated pth port - ISTR
somebody changing the default locations for headers and libs for
the pth port. I think that kdelibs2 should work fine with FreeBSD's
native thread libraries.

Yes indeed, it works with the updated pth port. My earlier pth was
 about a week old.

On that subject, how about an xmms-arts port? I saw an archived
posting by someone who had tried but failed, a while ago, because
of basically the same problem I was having (arts_init couldn't open
libartscbackend.la). Presumably it should work now.

Sorry for my ignorance -- I did look in /usr/lib but couldn't find
 anything which looked like threads.

In that case, why doesn't kdelibs2 just use FreeBSD's native threads,
instead of bothering with the pth port?

 Thanks -- R
