>Description:
Patch supplied in PR ports/26976 breaks linux_communicator as follows:

[earth] /home/paul: netscape
/usr/local/lib/netscape-linux/communicator-linux-4.77.bin: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2: cannot load shared object file: No such file or directory
[earth] /home/paul:
>How-To-Repeat:
see full descr.
>Fix:
ln -s libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3 libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2

This allows netscape to run, but it will not resolve hostnames [not sure if that is related]

I knew about the link problem, I thought it was posted to the pr, but I
don't know if the resolving problem is specific to your machine or not. I
do know of one person who got linux_netscape to work and didn't have
resolving problems so I'll have to try it for myself when I get a chance.

I also tried out linux-netscape under the new linux_base-7,
and I tried the link suggested. I got hostname problems,
but not consistently so. It seemed to work if I was trying
a hostname that happened to be in my /etc/hosts file, but
it didn't work for other hostnames.

I have updated the linux_base port to Redhat 7.1 (patch will be posted after
I fix the plist), but I am also having trouble with resolving hostnames when
using the linux versions of Netscape or Opera.

Did either of you ever find a resolution to this?

 thanks

The various linux_communicator ports were removed 10 months ago.
This PR (already outstanding for 2 years) is thus obsolete and
 should just be closed.
