IA64 is not an architecture that GNUstep supports. Architectures =
without clang support get a limited subset of Objective-C language =
features and so various things that use GNUstep will also not build.

Subject: Re: ports/181753: devel/gnustep-make 2.6.5 regression on ia64
Date: Mon, 2 Sep 2013 13:00:41 +0100 (BST)

I only send this PR because it is a regression:

 # pkg info -xd gnustep
 gnustep-make-2.6.2:
         mpfr-3.1.2
         gmp-5.1.2
         gcc-4.2.5.20090325_5
         libiconv-1.14_1
 #

Have things changed dramatically between 2.6.2 and 2.6.5?

Given that LLVM on ia64 is not going to work any time soon,
if ever, am I right in assuming that gnustep will not build
from now on? If so, are there any alternatives?

Anyway, perhaps you should mark this port as NOT_FOR_ARCHS=ia64

 Thanks

 Anton

Using gcc with GNUstep was discouraged long before 2.6.2 and a number of =
features were disabled in our port because of the use of legacy =
compilers. GCC's Objective-C support is about 10 years behind the =
 current version of the language.

It's implicitly NOT_FOR_ARCHS=3D{anything llvm33 or one of its other =
 dependencies doesn't work on}. =20
