>Description:
I have modified Gentoo's app-emulation/open-vm-tools-kmod-2012.05.21.724730 with support for FreeBSD. This version is newer than what is available in FreeBSD ports, so I thought I would share.

Gentoo splits open-vm-tools into two separate packages. One is for kernel modules and the other is for userland utilities. Right now, only the kernel modules have been modified to build on FreeBSD, but the userland utilities will likely follow shortly.

This is being developed in the following Gentoo bug report:

https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=421141

The patch that fixes the build failure is here:

 Hi,

Can you please test to verify that this doesn't cause kernel panics and
that all the functionality, including shared folders, still works? Last
time I tested the newer version, the shared folders didn't work and
 there were kernel panics.

 Thanks,
 Steve
