>Description:
mgetty always sets clocal on the ttyd? line it serves. This leads to
the fact that loss of carrier detect on a modem line does not
hang up. Particularly annoying when using AutoPPP with preallocated
IP addresses, as ppp never dies when no proper hangup occurs.
>How-To-Repeat:
Install mgetty on eg. ttyd1 in /etc/ttys to serve a modem. Set direct
to NO in mgetty.config. Dial in, issue command stty, observe clocal
being active.
>Fix:
Command "stty -clocal", executed eg. via ppp.linkup, will reactivate
line control on the tty line and allow carrier loss to effect a hangup.

Is this still a problem on the current version of comms/mgetty+sendfax,
 which is 1.1.30.12.16?

This is currently one of the oldest ports PRs in the entire GNATS
 system.
