>Description:

This is basically an expanded version of PR ports/43301. Yes, it's a very old bug.

On a fresh install of FreeBSD with X pulled from the ports:

ip-port-rtr1# cat Xorg.0.log

X.Org X Server 1.7.5
Release Date: 2010-02-16
X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0
Build Operating System: FreeBSD 8.0-RELEASE i386
Current Operating System: FreeBSD ip-port-rtr1.ipinc.net 8.0-RELEASE FreeBSD 8.0-RELEASE #0: Sat Nov 21 15:48:17 UTC 2009 root@almeida.cse.buffalo.edu:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENERIC i386
Build Date: 26 May 2010 12:10:22PM

and openMotif-2.2.3 from the port cd /usr/ports/x11-toolkits/open-motif I noticed this bug. The hardware is nVidia Corporation NV5M64 [RIVA TNT2 Model 64/Model 64 Pro] using the X.org nv version 2.1.17 driver

I ALSO noticed this SAME problem on a Xeon system using an onboard ATI Technologies Inc Rage XL, using the mach64 driver version 6.8.2 and the same version of OpenMotif

I do have mwm running on other machines with the same Xorg version and
openmotif version with no problems.

I DID note the current version of OpenMotif is 2.3.3 (http://www.openmotif.org/) so this may be fixed in that version, I didn't try it.

The problem is not limited to the root window or any window. What happens is when you start up mwm it works fine - then after clicking on various windows on the desktop, you are unable to grab focus on any of them after about 10-15 clicks. Programs started in windows (like top) continue to run, it is just you lose control of the mouse.

Switching to tvm works fine. mwm also runs fine under vncserver.
>How-To-Repeat:
install mwm
>Fix:
probably update open-motif to current version
