tmux reverses colors when TERM=rxvt.
When TERM=xterm tmux works fine both under xterm and *rxvt*.
tmux scrambles text for TERM=rxvt in emacs, especially when under ssh.
TERM=xterm solves this problem too.

State-Changed-Why:
So is there a problem with using TERM=xterm?

Is this problem specific to the FreeBSD port/package of tmux?
If it is a general problem with the application, it should be reported to the
vendor, not here.

no, there is a problem with using TERM=rxvt

Yes, at least it works fine on Linux.
Obviously something to do with termcap.
Today I tried
cp /openbsd/etc/termcap $HOME/.termcap
and tmux works fine.

I ported some applications to *BSD and know quite well.
But probably, I should have filed the bug to sys.

Fulvio

[ therefore I close this PR; if you get it fixed, please file a bug report ]
[ against termcap ]
