>Release: FreeBSD 3.2-STABLE i386
>Organization:
Virtual Estates, Inc.
>Environment:

>Description:

The new Siag (Scheme In A Grid) software sports quite "sexy"
interface, which uses simply the Xaw3d -- no heavy monsters
like Qt or GTk. Includes the siag itself (spreadsheet), pw
(Pathetic Writer -- word processor) and egon (an animation
editor). Very usable on a P90 machine.

My version of port is quite different from the old one, so
please forgive me for providing the complete replacement
	rather patches.

This sort of response may be good for training your children or
servants: "Please, get out, close the door, and come back in
as a well behaving young gentleman". I take this is a hint, I
need FreeBSD more then FreeBSD needs me (as a porter). No, I'm
not going to resubmit it this way. As I wrote in my PR (see
 http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=12059):

My version of port is quite different from the old one, so
please forgive me for providing the complete replacement
 	rather patches.

This would indicate to a anyone that I submitted the way I did NOT out
of ignorance (which _may_ be deserving of this kind of treatment), but
because I felt that to be the right thing to do. Anyone feeling
otherwise can run the diff(1) against his/her own /usr/ports/math/siag.

At this point, anyone can get the uuencoded tarball from the URL above,
make the diffs and re-submit them. But it will not be me.

 	-mi

As long as you are making the 'children' reference.

This sounds a lot like "fine, I'm taking my toys and leaving. I'm not your
 friend anymore."

 Hi Mikhail,

I would have hoped that my previous efforts to assist you would be
remembered when I kept my comment brief. I see that I assumed to much,
and I'm sorry to have upset you.

All I can say about the diff vs tarball issue is that we should have
this discussion again when you've used CVS in public. And FreeBSD does
have quite a large, eagle-eyed public.

Having said that, though, please do accept my apologies. It was not my
intention to belittle your efforts to benefit the project.

 Ciao,
 Sheldon.

I thought, I addressed those "previous efforts" by the (once again):

My version of port is quite different from the old one, so
please forgive me for providing the complete replacement
 	rather patches.

The fact, that you ingored this paragraph (or so it seemed) is what
 upset me.

I understand why diffs are better when the changes are incremental --
the major benefit being, that it makes it easier to see what's changed.
But I felt that in this case the differences are substantial enough to
call for total replacement (the port went from Siag 3.1.9 to 3.1.16,
which now consists of several more executables, uses gdbm and TCL,
 etc.).

The diffs can be obtained from the the full port and the full port can
be obtained from the diffs, so this really is a matter of preference...
You generally prefer the diffs -- fine. In this case, I felt the full
replacement is due, and _explained why_. You chose to discipline me...

 Ok.
