>Description:
the nut package shouldn't be install in /usr/local
which is normally on a different partition as /
and therefor already unmounted when nut tries to read/write to it at shutdown.
>How-To-Repeat:
install nut on a system with seperate partitions for /, /var and /usr
>Fix:
let the pakage install it directly to /
and maybe make softlinks to the appropriate folder.

 Dear maintainer of sysutils/nut,

a problem report regarding your port has been submitted and is waiting for
your feedback. Please have a look at
 http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=105342.

 Dear Ingo Petersen,

 thanks for your PR submission.
Sorry for my late response, i was really busy with private business and my
 day job the last weeks.

Anyway, here is a short response.
The port, like nearly any other port in the tree, installs to LOCALBASE by
default (normally /usr/local), but it depends on you to specify a
different location. Just change to the ports directory (normally
/usr/ports/sysutils/nut) and run 'make install clean PREFIX=/usr' or any
 other PREFIX you want.
The port is totally PREFIX-clean, so all installed files are recorded
correctly and you can uninstall the port afterwards without any leftovers.

I/the port can't guess what partition setup you use and where you want to
have it installed. Therefor we have the flexible ports framework, to give
you the possibility to override some of the defaults.

Please try the above steps and tell me if this is okay and works for you.

 Thanks and kind regards
 Joerg

 Hello,

 thanks for your respose!

You=B4re totally right, with the correct prefix it works flawlssly.
Maybe ist possible to give a warnig while installing, or=20
the Programm shouldn=B4t be installed to LOCALBASE,=20
because in this case it normally doesn=B4t make much sense
and if you have a uncommon partition sheme you can then choose another
 directory.
Since the most people use the standard sheme i thought=20
the package should be build in a way that it always works.
And even if they don=B4t, nut will never work if its not in
the root directory, because it always wants to write data back
to a partition which is already unmounted, i guess.

 regards

 Hi Ingo, hi Joerg,

judging from the followups to this PR so far, I'd say it could be closed.
Please let me know if you disagree.

 Regards,
 Stefan
