>Environment:

90 MHz Pentium box
2940W SCSI controller
HP 1533C DAT tape drive

>Description:

When installing from tape (from the boot disk installation menu), I had
placed the tape in the drive before booting. After I went through the
various menus and finally got to the COMMIT, when it started reading from
the tape, I got an error message: 10240-byte block too large. Well words
to that effect. The default blocking factor for tar is 20 512-byte blocks,
so if we cannot install as that, then the Install document should be
updated to ensure the user makes the tape correctly. I remade the tape
on another system with a blocking factor of 1. I went through the same
exact procedure again and it worked fine.

>Fix:

Either fix the documentation (?) or the SCSI tape driver. Correcting the
documentation is simple, but it seems like you'd really like to be able
to handle tapes of default block size.
