FreeBSD guest.reppep.com 4.6-STABLE FreeBSD 4.6-STABLE #3: Fri Jul 26 19:51:33 EDT 2002 root@guest.reppep.com:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENERIC i386
>Description:
<http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/configtuning-configfiles.html> says that named stores data in /var/db by default, and also says this is specified in /etc/namedb/named.conf. Neither of these appears to be true in 4.6-STABLE.
>How-To-Repeat:
Visit <http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/configtuning-configfiles.html>.
>Fix:
Remove refs to /var/db from this web page, or change /etc/namedb/named.conf with:

directory "/var/db"

Why does BIND store data in /etc instead of /var? This seems strange to me, and I didn't find an explanation in a brief search of the site.
