>Description:
I have an Asus P4B on which I installed FreeBSD. Later I replaced the mother board with a P4S333. Everything seemed to be working fine, except sysnstall would freeze when probing for devices. If I try to install from scatch, the same thing happens. I have tried using boot disk and booting directly from the CD, but as soon as sysinstall starts probing the computer locks. I have left the machine on for hours when the screen shows up to make sure that the device probe was locked. I have used this board with Linux, Windows ME, and Windows XP. It is very fast and cost about $50 less than a P4B266 (i845D), so I'd like to resolve this issue.

This sounds an aweful lot like the undocumented FAQ to which the answer
is "Enable the Plug'n'Play OS option in your BIOS".
