>Description:
I have upgraded using a disk to ver3.5.1 from ver3.2. I now can't login
to the machine with any prior user accounts including "root". I use ssh
and unfortunatly turned off everything in inetd.conf so ssh is my only
mode to use to login.

State-Changed-Why:
Sorry to hear this, but with the level of detail you provided
the most likely diagnosis is an incorrect system upgrade.
Sysinstall will preserve important files like the password
file if you use it correctly to upgrade.
