>Description:
When I tried to setup the lp0 driver in sysinstall I had a lot of
difficulty. The problem is that sysinstall does not pass the ip
address of the remote machine to ifconfig unless you fill out the
"Extra options to ifconfig" field. I did not find documentation
that this was required. Perhaps this is a "feature" and it just
needs to be documented.
>How-To-Repeat:
try to install over network with the lp0 driver
>Fix:
include the remote hosts ip address in the "extra options to ifconfig".

I agree that we should update the documentation to make this more
apparent. I will look into this. Hopefully with help from the originator.

I agree that this is confusing and I remember spending some time
figuring out what I needed to pass to ifconfig the first time that I
setup FreeBSD through PLIP. Do you have some suggested text to add to
one of the help screens? Can you please supply a diff or something of
what exactly we should add to make it easier?

      Thanks,
      - Murray

I've added text to the "help" line for the network configuration menu.
Sorry this took so long to resolve.

State-Changed-Why:
A fix has been added to -STABLE. This change will be present in the
upcoming FreeBSD 4.5. Thanks for your problem report! Sorry again
that this took so long, I promise future problem reports won't take so
long to resolve! ;)
