root@duke: /usr/src/sys/compile/SPLOQUIS i386
>Description:
I compiled the GENERIC kernel, to support a Sound Blaster SB-16 sound card
(with snd0, sb,midi and opl3 devices). Then, I can open multimedia (mp3,
midi, ....etc) files very well. But I can't get a CD player application
runs with a music CD. For example, KDE CD Player shows this message:

"CDROM read or acces error: Please make sure you have access permissions
to /dev/rmatcd0c "

However ls -la /dev/rmatcd0c order says:

crw-r----- 1 root operator 46 , 2 Aug 14 07:58 /dev/rmatcd0c

and I am root !

My CD unit reads data CD's but it doesn't play music CD's. Why ?

State-Changed-Why:
Are you sure you actually have a Matsushita Corp CDROM
drive? I'm betting that you just need to specify
the proper CDROM drive for the KDE application to
use. Can you show us the output of the
dmesg(8) command?

State-Changed-Why:
The originator just needs to specify the correct device node
to his CDROM audio player software.
