>Organization:

>Environment:
IBM ThinkPad 600E with Utra Slimbay CD-ROM

>Description:
When attempting to boot a FreeBSD CD, the boot loads off of the disc,
but the bootboot reports: Can't work out which disc we are loading from.
Guessed BIOS device 0x8b not found by probes, defaulting to disk0:

But, if I boot from floppy, the kernel has no problem locating the
CD-ROM. DMESG reports:
acd0: DVD-ROM <TOSHIBA DVD-ROM SD-C2102> at ata1-master using PIO4

>How-To-Repeat:

Boot 4.1, 4.0, or 3.4 CD-ROM

>Fix:

Work-around by booting from floppy.

 Hi John,

Any ideas how to work around this?

I realize that there's nothing the loader can do, so I'm just wondering
whether there's any trick the originator might be able to pull in the
 BIOS.

 Ciao,
 Sheldon.

Submitter says that the 4.4-RC1 CDs boot fine, so this can
be closed. Thanks!
