However two of my hosts with swapfile="/usr/swap0" in /etc/rc.conf, where /usr/swap0 is created by dd (official handbook way), perfectly hang without swapoff, through N time of the beginning of use swap
>How-To-Repeat:
1) dd if=/dev/zero of=/usr/swap0 bs=1024k count=512
2) swapfile="/usr/swap0"  to /etc/rc.conf
3) service addswap start

start to use a swap, or play with swapoff/on command like this:
