	4.0-199906xx-CURENT and 3.2-199906xx-STABLE

>Description:

The installation floppy "kern.flp" is nolonger working for
ASUS P/I-P65UP5 motherboard since June. I did not test on Apr/May.
The current running kernel for this motherboard is
		 4.0-19990318-CURRENT FreeBSD.

	The symptom is:

	/boot.config -P
	Keyboard: no
	\
BTX loader 1.00 BTX version is 1.01
	hanging ..........

keyboard is still active. That is, I can use keyboard to do
	soft-reboot.

>How-To-Repeat:

Must have an ASUS P/I-P65UP5 motherboard to see the problem.

>Fix:

Don't know, but I hope it can be fixed soon.

Responsible-Changed-Why:
Robert; this looks like a BTX:BIOS interaction issue. Any suggestions?

State-Changed-When: Thu Jun 24 13:34:04 PDT 1999
State-Changed-Why:
This is evidently being caused by the keyboard probe failing to find
your keyboard. Is this a standard keyboard with 12 function keys and
two sets of Ctrl and Alt keys?

The suggested workaround is to build a boot floppy with no /boot.config
file, if possible. Alternatively, mount the boot floppy and delete the
file. An actual fix should be available once we've considered the
alternatives.

State-Changed-When: Sat Jun 26 14:45:35 PDT 1999
State-Changed-Why:
The originator has confirmed that the problem is due to using an XT/AT
(unextended) keyboard. Following various off-list discussions, it has
been decided that the boot2 -P logic will remain "as is" for now. The
boot(8) man page has been updated to warn that "unextended" keyboards
are not detected by the probe.
