>Description:
Thinkpad T23. When using savage driver exiting X causes display to hang. I
logged on over ssh and could see X exits normally. Only the display is not
restored and stays garbled - unusable. Commenting out various options in
xorg.conf didn't change a thing. Using vesa right now.
>How-To-Repeat:
Enable savage driver in xorg.conf.

I encountered the same problem with the savage driver on the 6.2
release. The display goes out of sync and hangs whenever X is shut
down. My workaround was to comment out the 'Load "dri"' line in
xorg.conf. I would say this is a serious problem.

State-Changed-Why:
Please try again with the driver from xorg 7.2. A lot has changed since 6.9, and your
symptoms are typical of driver issues in LeaveVT().

Same problem with xorg 7.2. I wonder if the kernel module "savagedrm"
 could be the problem.

Based on feedback received, possibly reclassify this as a driver problem.

The problem no longer occurs using xf86-video-savage-2.1.3 and
 xorg-7.3_1 on 6.2-RELEASE-p5.
