I am using K3b to burn a DVD+R dual layer via dvd+rw-tools 6.0.
Unfortunately, whenever I hit burn the DVD spins up, then spins back down
with the following error in the debug output of K3b:

Here are my system specs:

Chaintech VNF4/Ultra mobo w/RAID0 turned on for boot/data drives
2x Seagate 80GB drives (SATA)
Lite-ON SOHW-832S DVD+R dual layer burner
Lite-ON SOHW-1633S DVD+R dual layer burner (converted with firmware to Sony DRU-710A)
Sound Blaster Audigy 2ZS sound card
480W Antec Neo power supply
Shuttle 6-in-1 media reader
APC BX1500 battery backup (apcupsd installed)

I am using current nve drivers (I am one of the unlucky souls who could
not use 6.0-RELEASE because of my ethernet card), and atapicam is turned
on in the kernel.  I am also using an SMP config.  Other than that, the
configs are based on the GENERIC kernel.  Ports is from 6.1-RELEASE.  All
programs installed are from ports.
>How-To-Repeat:
Go to K3b, and try to burn any ISO that requires a double layer DVD.

I'm thinking this is a problem with the SCSI IOCTL driver, so possibly a
fix can be found in there?

 	I see something very similar on my box when trying to use growisofs to write 
 image (~5.2GB to DL media) on LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1653S writer.

 Enter password:
 # chmod 4555 cdrdao
 
 See if this doesn't solve a few problems. It solved mine.

 Yes, you understood me correctly. I am well aware of security issues that can 
 pop up with setuid programs. However, as cdrdao is not designed to access the 
 network, does not run as a daemon and isn't a shell, I don't see where it 
 poses much of a security risk by being setuid root. My simplest reasoning for 
 this setuid business is that without it, my user cannot burn dual layer DVDs 
 (actually, cdrdao ends up locking the workstation hard, requiring a power 
 cycle). Also, I refuse to login as root every time I need to burn a DVD. With 
 root logins you run the risk of deleting every executable, log, and valuable 
 information on your system from a mistyped command (or someone walking past 
 your workstation who notices you left a root shell up). Yes, setuid root is a 
 bad idea by default, but so is logging into root just to run a single 
 executable. I really feel that the setuid solution is safer. To me it's just 
 the lesser of two evils.

 -dvd-compat and that worked out fine, can you test whether that works
 for you as well?
