Has any workaround being discovered? Or has progress being made on what
 caused it to begin with?

 Cheers
 Jared

Subject: Re: amd64/95554: undetected sata drive on 6.1, detected on 6.0
Date: Fri, 12 May 2006 21:48:56 -0500

I would like to add that this also occurs on 6.1/i386. Two Seagate 80GB
SATA drive replacements came in today and I went to install 6.1, but
only the drive on the primary channel is detected (both are shown fine
in the BIOS). After finding this PR, I tried a 6.0-RELEASE CD I had, and
both were detected correctly in the 6.0 install.

This could be the same issue as on kern/95184, both that and this
are disk drive detection errors. Soren put some additional error
checking code into the ata driver in between 6.0 and 6.1 in an
attempt to reject invalid disk detections. This PR needs to be assigned
to Soren for him to confirm it.
