>Description:
I'm using an INTEL D865GLC mobo, which has an AC97 on board. Playing audio
using xmms through it sounds terrible (it sounds like its overdriving the amp).

I disabled it and put in:

pcm0: <CMedia CMI8738> port 0xb800-0xb8ff irq 17 at device 2.0 on pci1

and it all works fine with the rest of the setup unchanged.

State-Changed-Why:
Most probably this can be fixed by changing the PCI latency timer.

Please update to 6.0-RELEASE or 6-STABLE and try the patchset in
http://people.freebsd.org/~ariff/. You should be able to play with
hw.snd.pcm0.latency_timer after applying the patch.

If you have questions or problems with the patch, please ask on
multimedia@.
