>Description:

Machine will not boot unless the following is in /boot/loader.conf

hint.acpi.0.disabled=1

The system is an original Compaq DL360, not the later G1, etc. It is running BIOS version
P21 dated 11/15/2002 which is the latest version of the BIOS for this system. I have tried setting
the Operating System type in the BIOS configuration to UNIX/LINUX and OTHER with no effect.

There is only 1 CPU installed in this system.

When ACPI is enabled the system halts during boot with the following message:

Hmm, well, a PCI link named 'FAKE' certainly isn't a good sign. Can you post
the acpidump somewhere and reply with the URL? This is probably a bug in
your BIOS that might can be worked around using a custom dsdt.

Hmm, I think that we actually are handling the FAKE device ok given its
definition (_CRS is empty). Would you be able to provide a verbose boot
dmesg (boot -v) as well so I can see how far long it is with probing
 pci_link1? Thanks.

are there any logs i can provide to assist in getting a fix?
i also have a dl360 (with dual proc, however) and have the
same issue. while disabling acpi works it was siggested that
 smp would not work.

it would be a shame to have to downgrade to 5.x.

 thanks,

follows is the transcribed output of the boot -v. unfortunately
i was unable to capture two sections noted by '< Missing >'.
hopefully these blocks are not relevant to the acpi debug, however
if they are i will attempt to find an alternate method to capture
 the screens.

let me know if there is any other information you need to hopefully
 get this fixed. :)

 Hi,

the problem seems to be solved with 6.1BETA2.

I had the same issue on a COMPAQ ML370, and booting from the
6.1BETA-CD-ROM with ACPI enabled now works fine.
