Hardware: ASUS CUR-DLS with two PIII/1000, SMP disabled, 1GB RAM, 3x U160 SCSI drives,
attached to the first onboard U160 SCSI controler port, FreeBSD 5.3-STABLE, most recent kernel as compiled today, NEC ND 3500AG DVD-RW (+- capable, Firmware V2.18)
>Description:
Mounting, reading from and writing to CD/CD-R/DVD/DVD-R/+R and +-RW also causes
	this error message on console:
	acd0: FAILURE - READ_BIG ILLEGAL REQUEST asc=0x64 ascq=0x00 error=4<ABORTED>

'burncd' fails always in fixating a written out CD-R/CD-RW on this device, 'cdrecord'
does the job via '-fix'. But accessing DVD-RW drive via atapicam (/dev/cd0) results in
	this error:
	(cd0:ata0:0:0:0): READ(10). CDB: 28 0 0 0 e 8a 0 0 1 0

Hello can you tell me whether this problem is still
there on FreeBSD 6.x ?

State-Changed-When: Fri Feb 8 09:37:18 UTC 2008
State-Changed-Why:
I feel that this had been fixed recently by recent ata work etc. A lot
of the problems that were active tat that time resulted in similiar
behaviour as described. Please test the latest FreeBSD release (7.0-RC2
where possible) or the CURRENT branch (-HEAD) so that we can determine
whether this had been gone indeed. In the mean time resolve this ticket
since I believe this is the right thing to do at this moment, if I am
wrong feel free to correct me ;-)

Subject: Re: kern/75875: [burncd]: acd0: FAILURE - READ_BIG ILLEGAL REQUEST asc=0x64 ascq=0x00 error=4<ABORTED>
Date: Fri, 27 Jun 2008 20:17:06 -0400

I just received the same error message trying to install 7.0-Release from ISO burnt
onto CDR The installation from cd-rom fails with many of the following messages:

/stand/cpio: invalid header: checksum error
/stand/cpio warning : skipped 9216 bytes of junk
/stand/cpio: no such file or directory

I'm able to replicate this on 2 different, almost identical hardware-wise, machines
with 3 different burnt 7.0-Release CDs
