The FX4830T CDROM is autosensed as UDMA33.  Frequent hardware errors are reported when using the drive in this mode.  "atacontrol mode 1 pio4 pio4" eliminates the hardware errors.

There is also a problem with atapicam installing this drive as da0 instead of cd0.

To submitter: Is this still an issue on more recent versions of 
FreeBSD?  Have you tried using the CD ROM drive directly to rule 
atapicam out?
