>Description:
The exphy driver is failing to detect connected media.
>How-To-Repeat:
Install the driver on a system with a dmesg sufficiently like
the one attached below. Boot, and observe that the xl network isn't
there. The dmesg shows xlphy0 reporting "no media present". Booting a
4.8-PRERELEASE kernel on the same hardware gets this dmesg output:

guru% ssh eve dmesg | grep xl
xl0: <3Com 3c905B-TX Fast Etherlink XL> port 0xe800-0xe87f mem 0xeb000000-0xeb00007f irq 5 at device 10.0 on pci0
xl0: Ethernet address: 00:50:04:84:ac:f1
miibus0: <MII bus> on xl0
xlphy0: <3Com internal media interface> on miibus0
xlphy0: 10baseT, 10baseT-FDX, 100baseTX, 100baseTX-FDX, auto

Trying a bit of debugging, the PHY_READ at line 196 (just before the
test of sc->mii_capabilities) returns a 0.

 Hi,

Can you confirm if this was ever fixed, or that it still an issue on a
 more recent version of FreeBSD?

 Thanks,

 Gavin

Nope. I don't even remember the last time I owned a 3com ethernet
 card.
