>Description:
When upgrading to 2.2.5 OR 3.0-Current, and using a Cyrix 6x86 P166+ MMX
The kernel Panics Imediatly on decompressing the kernel (from the boot floppy)
or when installing a new kernel.
IE You can't boot the machine.

Install a Cyrix 6x86 P166+ MMX and turn on the machine
>Fix:
Replace the CPU, I used a Cyrix P120+ and 2.2.5 booted fine. I managed to upgrade using the old CPU
Then put the new CPU back in.. *BANG* dead again

 Hi Simon,

Do you have any feedback on using FreeBSD with your Cyrix 6x86 P166+ MMX
any time after 2.2.8-RELEASE or 3.0-RELEASE?

If you don't remember the details of your problem report, you can view
it at http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=5130 . I must admit it
looks like finger-trouble to me, but I thought I'd better check all the
 same.

 Ciao,
 Sheldon.

From memory it was working great from 2.2.7 onwards. I upgraded to a Cyrix
M2 300 before 2.2.8 came out and have been running it ever since, without
problems. But when I was running the 166+ I had no problems after the
patches from one of the core guys.

 Regards
 Simon
