>Description:
Booting anything from FreeBSD 5.0-DP1 onward (didn't try earlier versions) will hang on the cbb0 or cbb1 probe. That includes install disks and fixit discs.
No panic, no nothing, just a hang. It will sometimes not hang, particularly if the machine hasn't been powered on for a while, so I was able to install RC1 and make a kernel without the cbb driver.
Littering /usr/src/sys/dev/pccbb/pccbb.c with printf()'s doesn't give anything conclusive, it'll hang in cbb_cardinit() one time and hang later on another time.
>How-To-Repeat:
Boot my Sony Vaio PCG-GR314MP with any cbb-enabled kernel.
>Fix:
Compile a kernel without the cbb driver

I don't have regular access to the machine anymore, but I tried to boot
5.3-BETA6 on it today and it booted fine. the problem seems to have
gone away, so unless it is still interesting why early 5.x had this
 problem, this can be closed.

 thanks,
 Lodewijk
