>Description:
Running XFree86 on a Compaq Armada 1750 notebook with
integrated Mach64 video.

dmesg reports the video as an ATI model 4c42.
I have the XFree86-4.2.0_1,1 Xserver installed,
although this problem existed with the older 3.x
server as well.

Some excerpts from /var/log/XFree86.0.log:

(II) Module ati: vendor="The XFree86 Project"
        compiled for 4.2.0, module version = 6.4.8
        Module class: XFree86 Video Driver
ABI class: XFree86 Video Driver, version 0.5

(--) PCI:*(1:0:0) ATI Mach64 LB rev 220, Mem @ 0x40000000/24, 0x41000000/12, I/O @ 0x1000/8

(==) ATI(0): Silken mouse enabled

If I suspend the notebook while under X, when I
resume the mouse pointer is gone. The mouse still
works (I can kindof tell where the mouse is by what
gets highlighted).

The (unsatisfactory) workaround is to change to text
mode and back using the <CTRL>-<ALT>-<Fxx> key sequence.

>How-To-Repeat:
Enable APM. Suspend the notebook while running XFree86.
When you resume, the mouse pointer is gone.

>Fix:
Unknown. I believe the fix would be to do additional
initialization of the hardware on a resume, since whatever
is done when going to text mode and back makes it work.

State-Changed-Why:
Does this problem still occur with more recent versions of X?

Responsible-Changed-Why:
Over to x11 list, this looks more like an X problem than a kernel bug,
as the mouse works in text mode.
