When trying to do some ppp with a motorola p7389e attached to my
FreeBSD's serial port, the system froze completely (no more ping and 
console also frozen) and I had to do a hard reset. There were no
error messages on the console.

This phone seems to need some initialization before serving as a modem because on windows you need to install a special driver to connect to
Internet with that phone. Maybe this lack of init causes the phone's 
serial port to behave badly and confuse FreeBSD ... (just my 2 cent)
