 murray@builder.freebsdmall.com:/usr/src/sys/compile/GENERIC i386
Motherboard: ASUS A7N266-E (nVidia nForce 420D chipset, RealTek 8139 on
 board)
HD: Diamond Max Plus 80.0GB 6L080J4
PCI: 4xIntel PILA 8460C3 NIC (Intel Pro 100S)

>Description:
I can boot the FreeBSD 4.6-RELEASE CD, but partitioning the hard disk
fails (can not swap to /dev/ad0s1b, newfs fails).
Installing works when I boot with 'set hw.ata.ata_dma=0', but then the
build-in ethernet card and the pci ethernet cards do not work - they are
recognized, but I can not configure them.
Configuring the first installed ethernet card results in:

Installing OpenBSD 3.1 works and the Ethernet cards are usable - the
chipset is not explicitly supported and runs in compatibility mode.
 Installing FreeBSD 4.5 doesn't work.

>How-To-Repeat:
Happens every time, removing ethernet cards, memory and playing with the
BIOS doesn't seem to change anything.

Here is a dmesg with 'set hw.ata.ata_dma=0' and 'boot -v'. When I boot
without 'set hw.ata.ata_dma=0' the hard disk is not recognized as
 bootable.
