>Description:
enabling ipv6-gateway and configuring inside interface (xl0) and outside interface (tun0, created by ppp) for ipv6 causes lpd to hang. The local printer daemen just won't work anymore. Submitted printjobs just stay in queue and lpd stops doing anything. Cpu-usage=0%

>How-To-Repeat:
	configure for ipv6-gateway
>Fix:

Workaround is to disable ipv6-gateway, lpd -4|-6 dosn't help.

lpd with ipv6_gateway_enable works fine here. Maybe you've got
a DNS problem? Try ktracing lpd!

 This system:
 FreeBSD theater.dyndns.org 4.6-RC FreeBSD 4.6-RC #2
tun0 has just the "default" fe80-address, though. Traffic is
 routed via gif.

 Hi Volker,
I have thl same configuration here: inet6-configuration on gif0.

It might be an DNS-problem.because I have no dns-entry for my IP6 address.
But how should lpd behave in this case? If the IP6 address can't be
resolved, it should time out and work without fqdn.

And last not least, what did you put into your dns-configuration??

 Andreas

This week is the week that students start showing up for the fall
semester at RPI, so this is a very (painfully) busy week for me. I am
not sure I will have time to look into this problem right away.

One thing I could suggest for you. Will your setup work if you typed in
the actual IP address for the host you want to send jobs to? (instead
of the hostname) If I remember right, I think the code in lpr will do
the correct thing if you type in the standard IPv4 address.
