>Description:
Compaq Netelligent (TLAN) device tl card does not work with (at least) NBP protocol
 netatalk-1.4b2+asun2.1.3 is running.

/dev/tl0 is configured and works fine with TCP/IP as 100Base-T Full dupe with a 100BT switch.
/dev/tl0 does not work at all.
nbplkup only shows the locals with tl?.

I replaced 100Base-T switch with 10Base-T hub but the result was same -- TCP works fine and AppleTalk does not.

 I tried /dev/vx (Vortex 3COM PCI 10Base-T), /dev/rl (RealTek 8159), Linksys LNE100TX so far.
All else work fine with same software, same hardware and same network setting.

Since NBP is not coming out from /dev/tl?, I can not see the AppleShare server.
FreeBSD can not see any of other AppleTalk devices on the net either.

>How-To-Repeat:
 Install 4.1-STABLE.
Install Compaq Netelligennt card. (Many Compaq machine come
with this card anyway.)
 Install netatalk-1.4b2+asun2.1.3.
Set up netatalk and run it.
Connect any other AppleTalk device to the network.
run nbplkup. It does not show any other AppleTalk device such as other Macs or AppleTalk enabled printers.

>Fix:
Buy a new ethernet (non Thunder Lan) card.
(But, yes, it would be nice if it got fixed.)

I can only assume that you're configuring the ThunderLan board for the
wrong duplex or something because I have had no problems with that card
 and netatalk.

  Yes, it does.

I tried with 4.3 release, and netatalk did not work while other
network server software such as NFS and SAMBA worked.

Upon replacing the TLan card with 3com 905, netatalk worked again.

If you want, I am happy to ship the TLan card to you.

However, I would like to reiterate that, the problem is not worth fixing.
Please use your time on something more useful. Buying an different
ethernet card is far more practical than you spending time to fix it.
But, if someone else sees the same problem, probably, it is useful
to know that replacing card may fix the problem.
