>Description:
The issued FreeBSD systems are installed on HP Blade (HP Smart Array E200i SCSI controller).

I've seen this issue twice during this summer:

The first time was on i386 system at 03.06.2011 (uptime was about 200 days) and the second --- on amd64 one at 01.08.2011 (uptime was about 260 days).

The issue is in that system continues to respond icmp requests (pings), but other network services (for example ssh) are inoperate). The physical console also do not responce on keyboard events (the last message is: "ciss0: ADAPTER HEARTBEAT FAILED").
Only initialized by reset button reboot returns system to normal operation.

P.S. Earliear I've failed with attemp to install on this hardware the FreeBSD 8.1.
>How-To-Repeat:
I'm not shure, that this issue could be reproduced intentionally.

 I don't have access to this type of h/w at the moment.

 Can you post a pciconf -lvb and a full verbose dmesg please?

 Ops!
 Excuse me.
 Not long ago two of BL460c G1 were changed on xw460c, and previously
 quoted dmesg.boot is not from BL460c G1 but from xw460c.

 Now I've returned one BL460c G1 and attach verbose input of ciss0 driver:

 boot_verbose="YES"

 %grep ciss /var/run/dmesg.boot

 Some more details:
 1. Issue appears both on amd64 and i386 archs (attached data from
 amd64 one);
 2. It looks being depending on input sequence: issue appears
 irregularly and rather rare.

 According to the HP website, there is a known issue fixed in later
 versions of the firmware for the E200i

 ciss0: firmware 1.66

 Version 1.84:
 Fixed a potential unresponsive condition related to controller lockup
 error code 0x83.

 Not completely sure if this is your problem or not.

 But, can you give it a try and report back? I don't have access to this
 hardware in my test lab.
