 This is a multi-part message in MIME format.

 "-alias" works, also "delete" works.=20
 The 'delete: cannot have "-" in front of it, otherwise, it gives an =
 improper message;

 # ifconfig rl0 -delete 1.2.3.4
 ifconfig: -delete: bad value

 This seems telling the 1.2.3.4 is a bad value. It should say:
 ifconfig: -delete -- bad option/switch

 Now we know "-delete: itself is bad, not the value after it is bad.
