>Originator: Andrew Cagney
>Release: FreeBSD 3.3-RELEASE i386
>Organization:
>Environment:

M/C with 1 IDE (2 dos partitions) and two SCSI disks (da0 (two dos
partitions), da1). Installing to the SCSI disk (da1).

>Description:

Kernel tries to mount da2s1a (does not exist) instead of da1s1a as
root file system.

>How-To-Repeat:

During boot after fresh install from 3.3 CD:

	....
	Waiting 15 ....
	changing root device to da2s1a
	changing root device to da2a
error 6: panic: cannot mount root (2)

da2* doesn't exist. da1a1a exists and contains a valid root file
system.

The pre-boot loader managed to successfully load the kernel from
da2s1a (well disk...).

>Fix:

Trying ``set rootdev=/dev/da1s1a'' at the boot prompt didn't appear to
work.

Trying ``root on da1'' in a kernel didn't appear to work.

Any suggestions?
