>Description:
A very good day!

I find myself in a severe predicament. I am unable to get my SATA300 drives running at SATA300. Instead they are reported as SATA150. My setup is NOT being run as RAID, only as a normal setup with 3 hard drives, and a 4th DMA-33 drive on which the O/S is installed.

Motherboard :
MSI G31M3-F

CPU :
CPU: Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU E5200 @ 2.50GHz (2520.67-MHz K8-class CPU)

SATA Controller:
atapci0: <SiI SiI 3114 SATA150 controller> port 0xec00-0xec07,0xe880-0xe883,0xe800-0xe807,0xe480-0xe483,0xe400-0xe40f mem 0xfebffc00-0xfebfffff irq 16 at device 0.0 on pci3 [No drives connected to this PCI Card]
AND
atapci2: <Intel ICH7 SATA300 controller> port 0xc080-0xc087,0xc000-0xc003,0xbc00-0xbc07,0xb880-0xb883,0xb800-0xb80f irq 19 at device 31.2 on pci0 [All 3 hard drives connected to this on-board controller]

Hard Drives :
ad12: 343399MB <Seagate ST3360320AS 3.AAM> at ata6-master SATA150
ad13: 305245MB <WDC WD3200AAKS-00SBA0 12.01B01> at ata6-slave SATA150
ad14: 953869MB <WDC WD1001FALS-00J7B0 05.00K05> at ata7-master SATA150

Thank you so kindly for any/all help!

Regards
Tinus
>How-To-Repeat:
Same hardware as above - unconfirmed though.
>Fix:
None known.

 I also have this problem.

 On 7.2 RELEASE i386:

 atapci1: <Intel ICH7 SATA300 controller> port
 0xe0e0-0xe0e7,0xe0d0-0xe0d3,0xe0c0-0xe0c7,0xe0b0-0xe0b3,0xe0a0-0xe0af
 irq 19 at device 31.2 on pci0
 ad4: 476940MB <WDC WD5000AAKS-00YGA0 12.01C02> at ata2-master SATA150
 ad6: 476940MB <WDC WD5000AAKS-00YGA0 12.01C02> at ata3-master SATA150

 Motherboard is an Intel DG31PR

The controller is correctly reported as SATA300, and the drives are both
SATA-300, but they are reported and controlled as SATA150 in FreeBSD.

State-Changed-When: Thu Oct 29 22:21:47 UTC 2009
State-Changed-Why:
Not all ICH7 versions support 3Gb/s speed, and even those which does
could be artificially limited by BIOS. It is very difficult to override
such BIOS limitation, and it is outside driver scope.
