Kernel recompile with CFLAGS= -O3 -pipe -mfpmath=sse -msse -mmmx -march=pentium3 -mtune=pentium3 -fno-strict-aliasing

Is it still issue on more recent FreeBSD release(8.1-RELEASE or 7.3-RELEASE)? 
Also please try GENERIC kernel instead of using kernel generated 
with non-standard compile options when you build kernel.
