>Description:
I'm trying to install the FreeBSD 7.0 on Lenovo T60 laptop. The kernel fails to come up and crashes with the fault:

"Fatal trap 9: General protection fault while in kernel mode"

I tried different boot options (like without ACPI, safe mode etc) but the result is the same.

I even tried with 6.3 CD but the result is the same.
>How-To-Repeat:
Try to install 6.3/7.0 on a Lenovo T60 laptop.

State-Changed-Why:

Please provide the complete panic message.
If the debugger pops up, please try to get a backtrace using the 'bt' command.
Also please clarify, if booting from CD bombs out or if the first boot after installing
does not work.
Output of a verbose boot dmesg might be helpful for us to find the source of trouble.

It was the install CD that was failing to boot up. I'll try to provide the
detailed output asap. But i'm not even able to install (bring up the install
CD). I tried with 6.1 and that CD is able to boot up properly.

It is likely that there might be some BIOS option that I need to set but I'm
not aware of it. As mentioned earlier, I've seen the problem with 6.3 and
 7.0 install CDs.

One tedious workaround for me would be to install 6.1 and then upgrade to
7.0 (I'm planning to use the steps give in

To submitter: is this still a problem with the 7.1 release candidate?
If so, please try to copy the output you get, without this info, I'm
afraid it's not going to be possible to diagnose the problem.
