Responsible-Changed-Why:
I'm speculating that this may be more an ata problem than a hardware-
specific problem, but I'm not sure.

Hi linimon.

The issue is specific to this ata chipset. You can look also at the
m0n0Wall ML. Who has the same chipset is unable to mount the root disk.
As you can see from the DMESG a machine using this controller can't
attach the disk. I've just added an extra controller (PDC20268) and so
the machine is back on line, w/o change on the kernel. I' ve actually
this machine w/ a CD-ROM connected on channel 0/0 of the Cyrix
controller, but it can't detect it. I've did the same test on a
Soekris 48 board. Same issue.

Toni.

 Hi, Toni.

Which FreeBSD version worked with this controller before upgrade?
Can you show verbose dmesg from it?

Handing back to the pool; the only machine I have with this chipset died so I can't do much...
