Asus P5B deluxe: ICH8, Core 2 Duo 2400.
Only one IDE harddisk (/dev/ad8) on JMicron363.

 Hello,
 
 Given this issue, can you give the 7.X series a try from FreeBSD? Some
 work had been done in various regions that could have affected this and it
 would be really neath whether we can either exclude the problem on the
 newest versions, or still see that it's broken..
 
 Also; how long did you wait before rebooting? It might be a detection bug
 somewhere; would it be possible to issue a "Verbose boot" from the boot
 menu, or boot -v if you enter it manually to see where we can get ?
