>Description:
My envinroment: Pentium II, Soyo D6IBA motherboard, 2 of 128M SDRAM DIMMs,
2940UW plus SCSI disk, two Millennium Matrox display adapters (one primary,
one DIPped to non-VGA)

Before:
I had a common Pentium motherboard with a 166MMX cpu and both common
XFree86 X-server SVGA (with primary) and MetroX (multi-headed with both
adapters) worked fine.

Now:
I upgraded to Soyo D6IBA motherboard (Bios 1.4, latest) with BX chipset
and somehow the display adapters are mis-configured badly. I believe
that the primary adapter's display memory is not seen at all.
Both XFree and MetroX servers report 0 kilobytes of display memory
and trying to "fix" it by manually telling the amount of memory does
the same as with the probed 0k: servers hang the system.
This might be a problem with BX chipset and probing of the PCI cards
incorrectly. This with 3.0-REL
With 3.1-REL, even the standard atk* console fails, after kernel is loaded
absolutely nothing comes to either of the displays and keyboard is hung.

This is a bit annoying as all this worked before, plus win NT 4.0 still
works fine both with one display card only AND multi-headed with both
cards.

I even tried to upgrade Matrox BIOSes to the latest (3.0) which did not
change anything.

I even tried with MSI motherboard, Model MS-6120 and the symptoms were
the same.

I will try with other Soyo BX motherboards next week.

>How-To-Repeat:
Try BX equipped PII motherboard and two Matrox Milleniums (PCI).
Try MetroX or the standard XFree86 server with the both cards, alter
"VGA enable" DIP between those two.

>Fix:
None known, unfortunately.

Does this problem still occur in newer versions of FreeBSD,
such as 4.3-RELEASE?
