The machine continues to reproduce the crash on a daily basis, while i =
have managed to turn debugging on and duming, i have not managed to =
capture this as expected the the /var/crash directory. As for =
simularities on all occasions the machine has been standing ideal for =
some time with the screen saver active (a blnk screen) when i return to =
the machien a either hit shift, or move the mouse, the machine reboots, =
on some occasions suppodley dumping on others simply rebooting. I have =
no problem in making the problem re-occur, however i can not identify =
the process which may be to blame.
I have added a new user account for you to be able to evaluate the =
problem i have forwarded these details to grog@freebsd.org

 regards,
     Dirk Bellmann.

Greg Lehey, 18 February 1999:

The information you supply isn't sufficient to analyse the
problem. At the very least we need to know the panic string,
but this probably won't be enough either.

You say that you don't know how to repeat this problem. If
that's the case (it doesn't happen again), there's nothing we
can do based on this input. In preparation, however, you
	could do the following:

	1. Build a kernel with debugging symbols. Use the option to
config and build a new kernel. After building the kernel,
	    but before installation, do this:

	    # cp -p kernel kernel.gdb
	    # strip -g kernel

This will install essentially the same kernel as before,
but the kernel.gdb will be available for debugging.

	2. Enable dumping: set this line in /etc/rc.conf:

dumpdev="/dev/wd0b" # Device name to crashdump to (if enabled).

This assumes that your your swap partition is /dev/wd0b
and that it is at least the size of the system memory.
	    Otherwise change it accordingly.

Also create a directory /var/crash on a device with enough
space for the dump (a little more than the size of the
memory and the size of the kernel).

	3. If the system crashes again, make sure that the dump is
taken, and contact me with the information. It would help
to have access to your machine to analyse the dump.

Greg Lehey, 23 February 1999:

I have had no feedback from you for over 5 days. Since I can't
analyse this problem without feedback, I'm closing the PR. If
you can reproduce this problem, please submit a new PR and
     proceed as described above.
