>Environment:
Installed from CD FreeBSD 6.0 RELEASE, I can't run uname because system hangs before login
>Description:
I installed system on another computer and then plugged harddrive to singleplate PC (Advantech). System hangs just after it starts to mount root. I tried with or without ACPI. I managed to start in single mode but system hangs right after i tried to mount filesystem.

Here is dmesg which i managed to get via serial console

Here is part of dmesg with ACPI enabled

This wasn't ata specific. That was cyrix timer
problem, so after i applied patches for cyrix
processor the problem went away. Currently i'm running
 6.2 stable

Not long time ago i tried to upgrade to 6.3. There was
a message in lists that ata part was rewritten. So i
rebuild system and tried to start with new kernel but
with no luck. I wrote directly to a person asking to
check new ata, perhaps that was my mistake.

Here is part of that letter:

I have an Advantech PCM5823 PC running 6.2 Stable (of
early summer) and tried to upgrade to 6.3 Prerelease
today. After upgrade i can't start kernel because of
ata disk not found. Here is part of dmesg of 6.2:

 atapci0: <Cyrix 5530 ATA33 controller> port
 0xf000-0xf00f at device 18.2 on pci0
 atapci0: unable to map interrupt
 device_attach: atapci0 attach returned 6
 .
 .
 ata0 at port 0x1f0-0x1f7,0x3f6 irq 14 on isa0
 ata1 at port 0x170-0x177,0x376 irq 15 on isa0

And here is after kernel upgrade:
 atapci0: <Cyrix 5530 ATA33 controller> port
 0xf000-0xf00f at device 18.2 on pci0
 ata0: <ATA channel 0> on atapci0
 device_attach: ata0 attach returned 6
 ata1: <ATA channel 1> on atapci0
 device_attach: ata1 attach returned 6

And system can't boot from /dev/ad0s2a.

I can send more information about this PC and OS.

 Regards,
 Kirill
