>Description:
on cat /dev/sndstat a Mixer device does not appear. My soundcard is recognized as a ESS688 based card i used the soundblaster pro driver which worked quite well with the 2.2.7-RELEASE
sb0 at 0x220 irq 5 drq 1 on isa is found and the Soundblaster Pro 3.1 code is used. opl0 if found at 0x388 on isa and is is a Yamaha OPL3 FM
well to keep it simple: there is just no mixer device found for this card.
>How-To-Repeat:
use the Voxware-drivers in 3.0-RELEASE with a ESS1688-card and the following settings:
controller snd0
device sb0 at isa? port 0x220 irq 5 conflicts drq 1 vector sbintr
device opl0 at isa? port 0x388
>Fix:
don't know yet, perhaps switching back to the old code from 2.2.7 for the SoundBlaster drivers would work.
The code is pretty much the same i think.

State-Changed-Why:
Could you please provide a full How-To-Repeat that includes
the steps required from the command-line to demonstrate the
problem? You should also describe what you expect to see
when these steps are carried out, as well as what you see
instead.

I don't get this PR at all. Surely the originator just needs to use
an up-to-date MAKEDEV to create the mixer device? I realize that the
sound driver in RELENG_3 is luigi's old code, while the driver in
RELENG_4 and HEAD is cg's, but the PR makes it sound like the originator
is expecting the device node and symbolic link for the mixer to
 maigcally appear on demand.

 Ciao,
 Sheldon.

State-Changed-Why:
Feedback timeout.

By the way, the VoxWare audio drivers are no longer part of FreeBSD.
