file cannot be fetched from any mirror, it is looking for
tiff-v3.6.1.tar.gz and a look at the ftp servers show only tiff-v3.7.1.tar.gz present. I tried cvsupping my ports tree twice and the problem remains.

 Do you use the "RELENG_5_3" tag for ports? Don't use it, but "."
 instead. There are no development branches for ports unlike sources;
 tags only mark the state of ports for a certain release. If you are
 already using "." then try another CVSup server; it might be out of
 sync. Current version of graphics/tiff in ports is 3.7.2 since 18th
 April 2005 which works fine.

State-Changed-Why:
Current version in ports tree is 3.7.2.

As Bjoern mentioned, you probably used the wrong cvsup tag.
